About the College/Unit/Department:

The Department of Foods and Nutrition one of four departments of the College of Family and Consumer
Sciences at the University of Georgia. The department has 25 faculty, 400
undergraduate students majoring in Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics, and Culinary Science and Nutrition as well
as 30 graduate students in the PhD and MS thesis graduate degree programs and 40 in the non-thesis MS
degree programs including the on-line MS degree program The Dietetic Internship is housed in the Department
of Foods and Nutrition and is currently accredited with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics until December
2028. The Dietetic Internship (DI) Program is approved for 12 students at a given time; 6 in their first year and
6 in their second year. Since 1989, 156 students have completed the program. We offer either a combined
MS/DI or PhD/DI program, and currently are training more PhD/DI students than any other program in the
country. Students complete a minimum of 30 hours of graduate coursework for the MS/DI and 46 hours for the
PhD/DI (not including the credit hours for the Dietetic Internship). The majority of Supervised Practice hours
are completed during the first two summers, with the balance of hours completed during the academic school
years. Our interns are routinely awarded honors and scholarships while in the program and program outcomes
show that our RD Exam passage rate is 100% and graduate employment in the nutrition field is 100%.

Position Summary:

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Dietetics (75% Administration and 25% Teaching), full-time, 12-month fiscal year appointment in the Department of Foods and Nutrition

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•Directing a nationally accredited MS-Dietetic Internship and PhD-Dietetic Internship Program
o Provides leadership for effectively managing all aspects of the program
o Student/intern recruitment, advisement, evaluation, and counseling
o Maintenance of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics program accreditation, including:
– Timely submission of reports
– Intern records, including student/intern advising plans and verification statements
– On-going review of the program’s curriculum
– Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors, and others involved with the program
– Facilitation of processes for continuous program evaluation and student learning outcomes assessment
– Timely submission of required documentation supporting the graduate’s eligibility for Commission on Dietetic Registration credentialing exam
o Establishes and coordinates supervised practice experiences for dietetic interns
o Communicates with students, faculty and head of the Department of Foods and Nutrition, other university faculty and staff, and Advisory Committee members concerning the Dietetic Internship Program
o Develops recruitment and marketing plans for the Dietetic Internship Program
o Monitors program and conducts program evaluation on an ongoing basis
•Teach courses in nutrition, clinical or community
•Contribute to activities that serve the department, college, university, the public, and the profession

Additional Requirements:

To be considered for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctoral degree at the time of application in a nutrition-related field. The applicant must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetics; have a minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing.

To be considered for the position of Associate Clinical Professor, the applicant must meet the above qualifications and attained Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor rank at a comparable university and have at least three years of relevant experience.
