Position Summary:

Creates a technology vision and provides the overall leadership for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-wide network/Internet connectivity and solutions, including coordination and facilitation of both network engineering and operations at a vast, research-oriented institution. Oversees services provided to internal and external customers across the enterprise.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leads and directs the EITS organization’s work responsible for the ongoing strategy and operational support for the UGA network and its connections to and through the SOX connector to the Internet and other world-wide research and education networks.

Oversees all network engineering and operational staff, including managing external vendors, ensuring adherence to UGA policies and best practices for operational integrity, change management, and network security.

Approves the business technology and human resources plan for assigned areas. Meets regularly with the team to gather work status. Discusses work progress and obstacles. Provides advice, guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

Works closely with other University departments and divisions regarding the design and operation of the University’s network systems, ensuring proper campus-wide coordination and collaboration, so that network services are responsive to the teaching, research, and service missions of the University.

Initiates and ensures implementation of improvement processes that impact customer satisfaction and relationships. Coaches team about corporate decision-making processes, prioritization, and IT/business unit alignment.

Champions workforce deployment of IT organizational resources. Generates appropriate communication for mitigating the disruption of change. Develops timelines and action steps for anticipating and framing the type of change. Manage change within the IT organization.
