Position Summary:This position is based in McDuffie County and is responsible for paraprofessional work under the supervision and direction of County Extension Agents/Supervisors. This position provides paraprofessional work with County Extension Educator/Agents in a food and nutrition education program. Plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts nutrition and food safety classes for limited resource clients. Prepares and conducts food demonstrations for group classes. Work is performed under general supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:1.High school diploma/GED, applicants of all educational levels will be considered.
2.Valid driver’s license is required and reliable transportation.
3.Reliable transportation to obtain supplies and deliver programing.
4.Ability to learn basic food preparation skills.
5.Strong communication skills and experience interacting with diverse groups of people.
6.Ability to lead groups effectively including ability to speak clearly and with sufficient volume to be heard without amplification.

Duties/Responsibilities:1.Effectively organizes time and materials by reviewing program lessons, efficiently develops shopping lists for necessary ingredients, including coordinating lists of multiple recipes or with other teammates.
2.Utilizes Outlook calendar to schedule and communicate programs, county events and activities. Ensures Calendar is thorough and accurately reflects to all activities.
3.Complies with county funds policy/practices to purchase food demonstration supplies, including efficient resources management, ensures invoices are properly documented and submitted in a timely manner, and all food supplies stored safely.
4.Submits mileage reimbursement for any shopping/program delivery/training submitted according to policy.
5.Effectively conducts food preparation activities to include chopping, mixing, slicing, dicing, and correctly measure ingredients. Utilizes basic household kitchen equipment including cookware, mixers, knives, and baking equipment. Ensures all program/teaching materials/requirements are prepared and ready for an organized presentation.
6.Maintains knowledge of inventory and supplies for demonstrations to minimize waste and/or over purchasing. Coordinates inventory reconciliation with other team members as appropriate.
7.May utilize role as Program Assistant to support relationships with appropriate organizations to offer nutrition education.
8.Ensures full knowledge of educational content to effectively and efficiently present lessons as written and with appropriate methodology and ensuring food safety in the preparation.
9.Leads activities, discussions and conducts food cooking/demonstrations for an audience of variable sizes.
10.Respond effectively and problem solve various challenges associated with space allocation.
11.Ensure food safety in transportation of food supplies and when providing food samples.
12.Ensures effective data collection from class participants via forms or other methodologies.
13.Conducts activities are responsive to the needs of the client, including evenings, weekends, and night schedules. Flexible scheduling is to be expected.

Duties/Responsibilities:1.Attend and complete all required Extension training. Completes UGA mandated training as appropriate.
2.Complies with UGA/Extension policy and procedures including recordkeeping and accurate time recording.
3.Completes county-based training as determined by County CEC or immediate supervisor.
