Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Network Specialist, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:
- Manages and supports networking equipment, appliances, inventory, tickets, and projects.
- Performs network engineering and configuration for the Cisco based network.
- Installs, maintains and documents networking equipment.
- Provides technical and equipment support for a Cisco based network. Network support includes but is not limited to switches, routers, firewalls, optical equipment, lan and wan devices, appliances, and servers.
Working knowledge of network communication concepts including:
•OSI model, specifically layers 1, 2, 3
•TCP/IP version 4 protocol family (TCP, UDP, IP) and common TCP/IP services (HTTP, SNMP, FTP,
•Event logging via syslog
•SNMP network management concepts
Familiarity with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless networking concepts, UPS concepts and remote access concepts - SSLVPN, IPSec VPN required.
Familiarity with common IT security practices (secure vs. non-secure protocols, authentication/authorization, etc.) required.
Prior Hands-on Network Device operation and configuration experience required.
Strong communication, network troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and customer service skills required.
Experience in a Cisco based network environment required.
