Postdoctoral Research Associate

Job description

Princeton University

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral or more senior research associate position in computational modeling of turbulent combustion starting September 2020 or later. Multiple positions may be available. A Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Computational and Mathematical Engineering, or a related area is required. This research position is in the Computational Turbulent Reacting Flow Laboratory (CTRFL) led by Prof. Michael E. Mueller. Specific projects include development of computational modeling approaches for complex (multi-modal, non-adiabatic, etc.) turbulent combustion processes and development of computational modeling approaches for soot size distribution evolution in turbulent combustion. Candidates for this position are sought with previous experience and expertise in Large Eddy Simulation of turbulent combustion, Direct Numerical Simulation of turbulent combustion, turbulent combustion modeling, and/or soot modeling. The candidates will be expected to work closely with graduate students and other postdoctoral researchers in the research group toward collaborative development of a common computational software framework. The appointment is for one year, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance and available funding. This appointment is subject to the University's background check policy. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applicants must apply online and submit their vitae (including a list of publications and presentations), a narrative summary of research accomplishments and research interests, and the names and contact information of at least three potential references to Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
