The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full-time entry level Professional Research Assistant (PRA) for a position in clinical research studies. The incumbent will work under the supervision of two Principal Investigators. Although the primary responsibility of this individual will be to assist with two ongoing studies, the incumbent may be asked to assist with multiple studies being conducting by the two Principal Investigators. This is a full-time, benefited position, with varying/flexible work hours, including some evening and/or weekend shifts. This is an at-will position meaning an employee can be terminated at any time without notice and severance pay may not be provided. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The PRA will manage the day-to-day operations of clinical studies including, but not limited to, the following specific tasks:- Coordinate and implement human subject recruitmentConduct phone and/or video screeningSchedule research appointments and orientation of volunteers for research studies Conduct or assist with research procedures, including but not limited to measurements of body composition, exercise capacity, and metabolic rateMaximize retention of study participantsProcess human biological specimens (e.g., blood, urine)Assist with wet lab maintenance and compliance, supply ordering and tracking, and other laboratory-related duties as neededAssess, document, and maintain quality control of all study-related data Perform data entry and quality assurance proceduresAttend research meetingsOther duties, as needed, for study completion Represent the University, Department, and Division, internally and externally, in a professional and positive manner
- Have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop a cooperative rapport with othersHave excellent oral and written skillsHave excellent organizational skills and attention to detailHave basic knowledge of data management, collection, quality control and analysis methodsBe proficient with computer software including Microsoft word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with REDCap, OnCore, and EPIC is preferred but not requiredPass required research compliance courses (CITI, HIPAA, etc.)Possess (or obtain) basic life support (BLS) certification and maintain certification throughout employmentBe flexible in daily work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekendsHave strong critical thinking and problem solving skillsHave basic bench laboratory skills (pipetting, aliquoting, etc.)Prior experience as a Professional Research Assistant and specific experience with human subject research and regulations highly preferred but not required
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONSQualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, integrative physiology, exercise/applied physiology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in relevant field, and two years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in relevant field. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
