Position Summary:
The Director of Operations of the Conte Center has the key administrative responsibility for the National Institutes of Mental Health funded P50 Conte Center award. This program that supports 1 of 14 nationally recognized Conte Centers, consists of a budget of ~$3,000,000 per year funded across 4 Departments and three Schools within UCI and 3 external subcontract Universities. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing, allocating and controlling operations and financial resources available to achieve the goals of the Center. Duties include financial management of all related funds, reporting to the funding agency, operation and administration of the research and educational activities of the Center involving academic and trainee and staff, and management of technical and administrative information systems. The Director of Operations acts as the liaison with all involved Department entities, SOM Dean's Office, the Office of Research Administration, appropriate campus personnel, other universities and external agencies. The incumbent assists the PI with activities related to accomplishing the mission of the Center, as well as provides the PI with academic administrative support

$5,200.00-$7,916.67

Required:
5+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough understanding of Contracts and Grants administration encompassing pre-, post and close of award. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Skills to manage complex research grants, contracts & sub-contracts Extensive knowledge and experience in cost accounting and analysis of sources and uses of funds Several years of contracts and grants management Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees. Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines. Analyze, plan and control multi-million dollar budgets while ensuring proper management of other fund sources. Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Thorough knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) Knowledge of Payroll Certification Reports and their proper completion Ability to evaluate and analyze complex program requirements; make and implement recommendations with measurable goals Working knowledge and experience with computerized information systems and personnel computing applications such as Kauli, People Soft Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
Preferred:
Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management. Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. UCI Research Administration Management Program (RAMP) certification UCI Research Administration Management Program (RAMP) certification Thorough knowledge of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars A-21, A-133 and granting agency requirements
