Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The School of Data Science and Analytics (SDSA) is a full-stack data science and analytics research and education unit at Kennesaw State. SDSA includes the Center for Statistics and Analytical Research (CSAR), professional certificates, an undergraduate minor, masters, and the first PhD in Data Science in the US. Since 2015, faculty have received over 2 million dollars in funding through partnerships with 20 different businesses and organizations conducting research into areas such as fintech, manufacturing, and healthcare, resulting in 3 patents and hundreds of additional research products. SDSA's people include more than 30 faculty across 5 of KSU's 11 colleges, 75 graduate students, and hundreds of undergraduates with training in areas such as statistics, analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, image processing, algorithmic development, optimization, neural networks, and predictive modeling. We also offer online certificates in Python, R, SAS, RapidMiner, and have provided customized workshops (virtual and onsite) in technical and business applications of analytics, such as data translators, data governance, and presenting to non-technical audiences.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time faculty positions in Data Science, Analytics, and Statistics. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, analytics, and data science. Teaching responsibilities may include one or more courses including but not limited to: elementary statics, introduction to data science, probability and data analysis, computer applications of statistics, biostatistics, statistical methods, data mining, regression, etc. Familiarity with R, Python, SAS, other programming languages and statistical software preferred. This position is renewable.
Other responsibilities that might be listed include the following:
- Student teaching/clinical supervision Advising Working with a diverse community
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Analytics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or in a closely related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience working in a data related field Familiarity with Python, R, and/or SAS. Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses Record of past teaching at a secondary or postsecondary level Post-doctoral research experience
