The Department of Library Resources supports student success by enabling the efficient and affordable curation, acquisition, and discovery of library resources, enhancing the university's international digital publishing presence, and through the support and maintenance of library systems to improve student access to and navigation of resources.

Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Librarian Assistant Professor faculty position, beginning July 1, 2021.

Librarianship (85 %)

    Collaborate with members of the Collection Development Unit to support unit projects and goals. Lead or assist with Collection Development training sessions for selectors. Assist the Director of Collection Development with revising the KSU Library System Collection Development Policy by the established deadline. Participate in collection assessment and weeding projects as needed. Evaluate usage statistics to assess the KSU Library System's electronic resources subscriptions for renewal and cancellation recommendations and to provide collection data and analysis for Selectors. Coordinate workflows for electronic resource management, in collaboration with the Director of Collection Development, Library Resources Librarians, and Selectors. Serve as an undergraduate faculty liaison. Perform subject specific professional work including faculty outreach and collection development. Provide research assistance (in person, via chat, or other communication modes) to students and other members of the KSU community.

Service (10%)
    Engage in KSU Library System service, KSU University service, and/or service to the library profession.

Scholarship (5%)
  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Required Qualifications
  • An earned Master's in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program, or the foreign equivalent, is required.
  • Aptitude to meet library faculty standards for job performance, scholarship, service, and professional development at the Library Assistant Professor rank.
  • Experience in libraries or customer service-oriented role.

Preferred Qualifications
    Evidence of working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community. Experience working with electronic resources. Experience with cost per use analysis. Project management experience. Evidence of strong attention to detail. Experience with collection assessment. Vendor relations experience. Knowledge of contemporary library databases and vendors.
