Job Summary:The Financial Accountant directly reports to the Assistant Vice President of Finance and Controller for assisting in the effective control over all financial assets, liabilities, income and disbursements of the College, and supervision of an appropriate accounting system to maintain proper controls.
The Financial Accountant maintains the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Other duties include completion of special projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Finance and Controller.

Education/Qualifications:•Preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or in business administration
•Associate degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with significant relevant work experience will be considered
•Knowledge of fund accounting and general accepted accounting principles
•Proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keeping current with developments and trends.
•Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
•Self-directed with an ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines under strict time constraints.
•Rigorous attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
•Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to elicit, organize, and translate data.
•Ability to perform essential job functions effectively in a virtual work environment.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, with advanced skill in Excel.
•High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
•Strong customer service orientation.

Responsibility/Duty:Responsible for assisting in the business and financial management of the College and the administration of the accounting system and financial recordkeeping system.

Responsibility/Duty:Assure that all recording and reporting requirements are met for management and regulatory agencies as required by law and general fund accounting practices; and assure that accounting operations are effectively and efficiently performed.

Responsibility/Duty:Assist students with account balance inquiries and tuition payments. Research student account balances when discrepancies are found and re-bill student accounts as needed.
