Job Description:

As the UFHCC Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Administrator, you will be responsible for the programmatic and administrative management of the Center’s NCI P30 Center grant. This position is responsible for the Cancer Center’s pursuit of NCI-designation and requires a unique blend of project management expertise, complex grants experience, as well as strong critical thinking and dynamic leadership skills. Additionally, this is a highly visible, highly responsible position and requires an incumbent with a professional demeanor and attitude, a high level of confidentiality related to sensitive issues, and independent and prudent judgment.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Programmatic and administrative management of the P30 Center grant, managing both non-competitive and competitive renewal documentation, coordination, and submission. This includes pre- and post-award management of the grant (once awarded), managing the development and assembly of required documentation and narratives, advising on programmatic directions in support of the aims of the grant, and general project management during the pursuit and renewal of the grant;

  • Oversight and management of the UFHCC’s intramural research programs, including administration and evaluation of the Pilot Project Program;

  • Programmatic and administrative management of the Center’s membership, research programs, and working groups;

  • Administrative management and oversight of both the UFHCC-managed and jointly-managed UFHCC/ICBR Shared Resources, including monitoring shared resource utilization, managing billing, and advising on service rates and other related policies and practices.

This is a senior level position, ideal for candidates with established careers in research administration and experience in the development, administration, and/or renewal of an NCI P30 Center grant. Employees in these roles operate as part of the Administrative core supporting the mission and operations of the UF Health Cancer Center and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida. Expected Salary:

$68,000 - $75,000; Commensurate with Education and Experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

As an ideal candidate you will have/be:

  • A Master’s degree in Research Administration, Business, Finance, or related field and two to three years of relevant experience preferred;

  • Experience in an NCI-designated Cancer Center and working knowledge of Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) administrative guidelines, activities and responsibilities;

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data, interpreting information, provide logical conclusions/projections and program evaluation and anticipating costs/obligations;

  • Experience with University procurement policies and practices and effective vendor management, to include contract negotiations;

  • Experience developing and managing project budgets and tracking expenditures;

  • Demonstrated success and experience in project management;

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with executive and senior leadership, staff, vendors, and volunteers to achieve the goals of managed projects;

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of federal grants management guidelines that include OMB A-81, and FAR practices;

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and principles to ensure compliance;

  • Knowledge of University systems, as well as general administrative functions including travel, and complex meeting planning in an academic medical research or higher education environment;

  • Demonstrated quantitative and data analytic skills, with ability to generate, distill and interpret reports for senior leadership on metric and benchmarking analysis;

  • Ability to utilize complex database systems to generate analytical reports (i.e. University Financial System, Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), Electronic Research Administration (eRA) systems, NIH Databases, to include Reporter, etc.);

  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment;

  • Demonstrated strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, both internally and externally, through a variety of communication mediums and venues;

  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills;

  • Excellent delegation and time management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities seamlessly with excellent attention to detail;

  • Exceptional customer service with a professional, trustworthy, approachable demeanor and strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability and desire to work with a broad range of people and appreciate a culturally diverse organization;

  • Strong analytical, creative problem solving, and critical thinking skillset;

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative and creative approaches to seminal events;

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, especially proof-reading and public speaking skills;

  • Experience with various graphic and presentation software a plus;

  • Expert proficiency in all MS Office applications.
