Job Description:

The Director of Donor Relations and Student Philanthropy will develop strategic collaborations that support Student Affairs’ and UF’s priorities including donor relations, fundraising, student philanthropy and other needs. The Director will execute the strategies and tactics to expand a culture of philanthropy in support of Student Affairs and university initiatives. The Director reports to an Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and has a dotted line report to the Vice President for Student Affairs

As directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs and in concert with UF Advancement, the incumbent in this position designs and executes philanthropic initiatives for current students and develops and implements alumni and donor engagement activities for Student Affairs, supporting the Vice President for Student Affairs’ priorities. This position must build and maintain strong collaborations with Student Affairs units to develop a pipeline of prospects, including Senior Leadership as needed to enhance internal and external relationships. The incumbent serves as a centralized point of contact for Advancement (Foundation and Alumni Affairs) and attends monthly Advancement meetings. The Director must maintain communications, records, and relationships with donors and friends of Student Affairs.

In addition to the cultivation and development of ongoing philanthropic efforts, the incumbent is responsible for stewardship efforts related to student giving and alumni affairs. A database (CRM) must be maintained for all DSA units. DSA foundation account balances must be managed, scholarships allocated, and all units must be trained on spending in compliance with Donor Intent.

Expected Salary:

$90,000 to $105,000 Commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience in alumni affairs/development or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience in alumni affairs or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Philanthropic and strategic planning experience in complex higher education organizations.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Master’s degree
  • Degree in Student Personnel or a related field with 4-6 years of philanthropic and strategic planning experience in complex higher education organizations.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with diverse populations of students.
  • Evidence of effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external constituents.
  • Experience with fundraising, database management, and student philanthropy preferred.

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of higher education, support services, philanthropic strategy, student development, and diversity and inclusion.

SKILLS: Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail. Positive relationship management.
