The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

We are seeking an Manager, Human Resources to play a vital role in providing line management and direction to our Human Resources Operations team.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Organizational Strategy & Operations, the Manager, Human Resources will manage a team responsible for all transactional activities related to the HR functions of on-boarding and off-boarding of staff, faculty, student and temporary workers. The Manager, Human Resources will perform and oversee routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compliant hiring, termination and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; HR related University & PSOM programs and more. Responsibilities also include supporting the Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams to ensure all transactions related to compliance and proper documentation are completed both in WorkDay, Penn's system of record, as well as filed and documented appropriately in the GTP share drives. The Manager, Human Resources will be informed on all University of Pennsylvania and GTP/ODC-specific HR policies. This role must maintain awareness of all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices to the Sr. Director, Organizational Strategy & Operations; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. The Manager, Human Resources will be responsible for the administration and execution of all University & PSOM HR programs such as reclasses, salary increases, intro period reviews, annual and mid-year performance appraisals, merit increases, Penn's Way program and more.

This position will require partnership with multiple business offices including central recruiting, central compensation, employee solutions center, Office of Affirmative Action, Office of Information Systems & Computing, Penn Global Services, Penn's Postdoctoral Program, Penn's Environmental & Occupational Health programs, Penn's Learning & Development programs, and others.
