Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist within the van Eps laminitis research laboratory will perform varied duties related to benchtop/in vitro as well as in vivo research. Position is located in Kennett Square, PA where there is no public transportation. Individuals must have their own transportation.

Job Description

Duties will include development, validation and performance of chemiluminescent and ELISA assays, as well as performing other molecular techniques including immunoblotting, PCR and immunohistochemistry. The position includes work with live horses including handling, procedures and sample collection. Duties include data collection and analysis as well as maintenance of laboratory records and equipment. Develop, validate and perform chemiluminescent and ELISA tests. Participate in live horse research including handling, sample collection, procedures, monitoring/observation. Perform other molecular techniques including qPCR, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry. Perform ex vivo / in vitro experiments including organ perfusion, explant culture and mechanical testing. Data collection and analysis. Organize and maintain laboratory including records and equipment.


Bachelors degree (required) A level Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 1 to 2 years experience with chemiluminescent and ELISA tests as well as performing other molecular techniques including immunoblotting, PCR and immunohistochemistry preferred. Strict attention to detail and the ability to collaborate well with others required. B level Same as above, 1- 2 years experience required.

Position is located in Kennett Square, PA where there is no public transportation. Individuals must have their own transportation.

Position is partially contingent upon grant funding.

Physical Effort : Typically sitting at a desk or table ,

Occasional lifting 25 lbs. or less , Intermittently sitting/standing/stooping
