Advertised Job Summary:The University of South Carolina invites applications for one full-time Instructor position in the Department of Geography (http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/geog/) to begin Fall 2021. Responsibilities include teaching introductory geospatial courses (GEOG 105 – The Digital Earth; GEOG 341 – Cartography) and possible upper-level courses in candidate’s area of specialty with consent of the Department Chair. Ability to teach urban and/or regional planning preferred. Service will include committee service as assigned by the Chair.
The position is a non-tenure track, 9-month appointment, with a teaching load of 6 courses for the academic year (3:3 load). This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
All course assignments will be determined in consultation with the Department Chair. The Chair will advise you of your duties which are subject to change as the needs of the department change.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Geography or allied discipline. ABD candidates close to completion may be considered. The successful candidate must have prior teaching experience at collegiate level. Commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering student learning is expected.
