School of Medicine:

.We are recruiting a Post-Doctoral Associate to work in the Pain Prevention and Treatment Research Program and interact closely with a multidisciplinary team in conducting behavioral clinical trials in the area of pain and symptom management for patients with cancer and other chronic diseases. This position is in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center and involves working on small pilot trials to larger randomized controlled clinical trials (funded by the National Institutes of Health) conducted at the Duke Cancer Institute including small community clinics throughout the Southeast region of the US that are part of the Duke Cancer Network. Specific responsibilities of this job may include providing behavioral pain management interventions both in person and by video-conferencing to patients with cancer recruited into clinical trials, scientific writing, and high level coordination of clinical trial operations. There is a potential opportunity in this position for involvement in data analysis work and authorship of empirical manuscripts as well as presentation of research findings at national meetings. This position would offer the opportunity for receiving supervision and clinical work to lead to licensure in clinical psychology in the state of North Carolina. Additionally, as desired by applicant, this position could offer mentoring for scientific grant writing intending to move the individual toward an independent academic career. This is a full-time position and salary is commensurate with experience. Completion of a PhD in clinical psychology is desirable. Work Performed

DEFINITION:The Postdo ctoral Appointee holds a PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g.ScD, MD, DVM). Candidates with non-US degrees may be required toprovide proof of degr ee equivalency.1. A candidate may also be appointed to a postdoctoral po sition if thecandidate has completed all of the requirements for a degre e but thedegree has not been formally conferred: in this case, the candi date maypresent evidence of completion of the degree requirements, toget her witha statement documenting the date on which the degree is to be co nferred.If the degree is not conferred by this projected date, the postd octoralappointment may be terminated.2.
