Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs will serve as a collaborative member of the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs leadership team. This leader will work throughout the university in all areas of faculty life and responsibilities and will serve as a primary advisor to the Provost in areas relating to faculty. The person in this position will work to ensure Miami University is providing strong, systematic, and culturally responsive support, mentoring, and guidance to faculty, leaders, and other stakeholders. This person will be an ally and advocate for faculty of all ranks and appointment types, through all stages of faculty careers.

• Mentoring and professional development for faculty of all ranks and appointment types from recruiting and onboarding through separation from the university;
• Preparation and support for annual reviews, promotion and tenure review;
• Support for academic leaders who have oversight of faculty;
• Review and updating of policies and practices relating to faculty as needed;
• Ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion goals relating to faculty are being met;
• Owning all strategic plan goals and operational goals and initiatives related to faculty;
• Develop intentional opportunities for emeriti faculty to remain engaged and contributing to the university mission;
• Ensure faculty are nominated for internal and external awards; and
• Serving as a primary liaison with Academic Personnel for routine faculty matters

Tenured, full professor at Miami University, holding an earned terminal degree in his/her discipline; deep knowledge of University governance.

Experience with faculty development and support; understanding of promising practices in faculty support and development; demonstrated success with shared governance processes within the university; and/or administrative experience in faculty and staff evaluation.
