The mission of the Office of Graduate Education is to recruit and train PhD students in the biomedical sciences. We admit 90-120 students each year who receive their initial professional training as a cohort in an umbrella first year program, Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBSP) and then eventually transition to one of 14 PhD programs across the UNC campus. Position Description:

We seek a Student Services Coordinator to support BBSP recruitment and the first year training program. The Student Services Coordinator will be responsible for on-boarding and supporting 90-120 new biomedical PhD students each year. This work will involve coordinating student training, registration, international student orientation, tuition/fees payment, overseeing student accounts, course management for BBSP First Year Group, Research Rotations, and 1-3 additional courses and other work required to support students throughout the year. The Student Services Coordinator will also serve as an Admissions Coordinator on the BBSP Admissions Team. The Admissions Coordinators are responsible for managing the full admissions life cycle for ~1800 applications, 340 interview candidates, and 200+ admit decisions. The Student Services Coordinator role requires the ability to successfully complete large volumes of process-orientated administrative work and an ability to effectively interact with and manage students. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience working in a business or office setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with graduate students and/or working in an academic setting preferred. Proficiency with excel (including formulas), Microsoft office mail merge, and Wordpress preferred. Ability to drive a state vehicle preferred.
