The UNC Diabetes Care Center provides coordinated, comprehensive health care to patients with diabetes mellitus in a cost-effective manner. Additionally, the Center is a resource for the education of physician, allied health professionals, and lay people. Finally, and most pertinent to this position, the Center’s Clinical Trials Unit is involved in pursuing research aimed at developing improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diabetes and obesity. The research assistant will support all aspects of the clinical trials program in the UNC Diabetes Care Center.This position will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting studies, including the following tasks: (1) complete all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory tasks for the study to ensure compliance with UNC and federal guidelines. (2) Screen the Epic electronic medical record system and the Carolina Data Warehouse, recruit study participants by telephone and mail, and obtain informed consent. (3) Schedule, coordinate, and conduct study visits within Clinical Research Unit. (4) Collect, process, and ship biological specimens (5) Enter study data into electronic databases, answer data queries and accommodate monitoring visits as necessary.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of clinical research principles and regulations.
Ability to organize, collect, record and present data and information within defined research parameters. Ability to ensure quality control and attend to large amounts of research data.
Must have superior organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to balance multiple priorities.
This position requires significant attention to detail and strong time management skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.Preferred Qualifications:
