Essential Job Duties:

Thank you for applying with University Temporary Services! Please note, this application is the first step in the process for being considered for Web Developer roles at NC State and UNC Chapel Hill. This is not a specific position but rather, an application showing your skill set and interest in becoming a candidate for consideration with UTS.

These types of positions would include developing websites and applications that enhance the educational and research missions of the particular department.

The ideal candidate will be a web-based software development professional with proven experience developing online applications. This position will be responsible for meeting with staff to evaluate needs and determine web solutions, creating wire-frames for possible development web-tools, programming approved designs, testing code in a development phase, and deploying features in a production environment. This position will also be responsible for the security of the web application software; as security updates are available, the person will install, test and push the new software to production. This position will have an understanding of project criteria and be able to plan a strategy to programmatically satisfy project objectives via web-based user interfaces, while advising management of progress during each phase of code development using wire-frames, swim-lane models, demo staging sites, etc.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum: 2 – 10 years of experience in web application development using C# or Python, or other relevant areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Department Required Skills:

Possess successful teamwork skills and ability to get along well with co- workers, management, and clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prompt attention to detail. Willingness to learn and contribute both independently and as part of a team. The candidate should also be self- motivated and able to independently balance competing priorities.

Minimum: 2 – 10 years of experience in web application development using C# or Python, or other relevant areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

Some preferred qualifications for this position are: ability to install/configure PHP and Apache, familiarity with Virtual Machines (VMs) and Remote Desktop (RDP), and experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop.
