Primary Function of Organizational Unit :

The College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) at ECU is home to eight academic units (offering over 30 degree options), award winning faculty, world class research labs and a diverse student body. Our wide range of academic programs provide an assortment of academic options for potential and current students. Student experiences inside and outside of the classroom are vast as well. Students in our programs are exposed to many different opportunities and experiences. These experiences and opportunities range from unique research opportunities, professional internships, community service projects, study abroad opportunities, just to name a few.

Job Duties :

INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University.

The College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University seeks applicants for the internal position of Associate Dean for Research, which is a 49% reassignment of duties performed in a 12-month capacity within the College of Health and Human Performance.

Duties Include:
•Associate Dean assists the Dean in performing administrative responsibilities related to College Programs

Facilitates and supports individual and interdisciplinary faculty teaching, research, and service efforts; serves on the College Executive Committee; and performs other administrative duties as designated by the Dean.

Builds and maintains positive working relationships with faculty, chairs, and associates of the College and across the University.

Participates in the University Research Council and liaises with the Research Economic Development and Engagement Division.

Participates in College Dean Leadership Team along with the Other Associate and Assistant Deans.
Within the College, supervises the grant team, including an administrative program associate, grant pre-award, and post- award staff.

Responsible for monitoring external and internal grant and contract awards, including start-up, and facilitating faculty submission of research grant and contract awards.

Assist in identifying external funding opportunities to support the research program of the College.
•Foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research with colleagues in the academic and clinical setting.
•Identify and disseminate information to faculty related to funding sources, research conferences, scholarly publications, and other opportunities to enhance scholarly productivity.
•Establish an effective infrastructure to support faculty scholarship.
•Assess the educational and support needs of the faculty related to research and facilitate education and consultation based on identified needs.
•Support diversity in an academic environment.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Candidates must be current, tenured faculty members in the College of Health and Human Performance at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.

Experience with preparing and submitting applications for external funding and post-award management
