TITLE: Campus Life Assistant

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time                                                     

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt                                                        

                             

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  

This position involves offering a wide range of support services for the delivery of dynamic and innovative programs in the Office of Campus Life.   S/he must be an individual who possesses strong organizational and communication skills and is highly motivated and enthusiastic about actively contributing to the success of KSU students.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain a visible presence in the Campus Life office

Maintain involvement, positive relationships, and accessibility with students

Submit forms, reports, and documents of quality when requested

Serve as a liaison between office staff and student organizations to ensure effective communication and completion of all necessary paperwork

Support Office staff in the development of programs for students, including Student Leadership Institute, Homecoming, Spring Fest, etc.

Assist with the development and creation of an Innovation and Creativity Lounge for students

Maintain and file all required forms and data

Participate in departmental committees and special projects as assigned

Participate in all training sessions and ongoing staff development offered by the Division

Provide supervision and support at unit events

Other duties as assigned

 

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree OR five (5) years of related work experience

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:    

Demonstrated friendly, open, and helpful attitude to all campus constituencies

Ability to display a positive attitude and be flexible to change

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups

High level of dependability and integrity regarding expectations and responsibilities

Exposure to student development theories and issues

Skills in critical thinking, consensus building, student development, teamwork, initiative, leadership, and staff development.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

Some physical effort moving objects will be required

No or very limited exposure to physical risk

Extensive evening and weekend hours may be required
