Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601241 Position Category: Facility Operations Professional Job Title: Supervisor of Electrical/Mechanical Operations Position Code: 455X00 Position Type: Staff Department: Facilities Management Nature of Work: The Supervisor of Electrical/Mechanical Operations is responsible for the management and supervision of a crew of skilled technicians, including electricians, HV AC technicians and plumbers, also, maintenance helpers. This individual ensures the performance of skilled tasks in accordance with standard trade practices in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or a vocational school required; three years trade related experience with one year experience in supervision is required; must possess a valid driver's license. Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: Supervises, directs and inspects the work of a group of skilled and semi- skilled workers in the care, operation and maintenance of HV AC, electrical equipment, plumbing and related systems, including temperature control devices Plans and supervises the work of electricians, plumbers, air conditioning mechanics and preventive maintenance mechanics in the care and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment Supervises construction work; assists in preparing specifications; prepares cost estimates of proposed work Plans and advises Director of feasibility of proposed construction or alteration jobs; makes recommendations for major repairs and improvements Requisitions supplies for maintenance and repair work; supervises the custody and maintenance of equipment, tools and materials; prepares specifications for equipment purchases Confers with officials, department heads and others on mailers relating to installation of equipment; maintains records and prepares reports Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises and inspects the work of electricians and mechanical technicians Supervises and assists with services, repairs and maintenance of lighting, power, heating, cooling and communication systems. Coordinates the installation of electrical equipment used in the maintenance and upgrade of Fire/Life Safety Systems. Maintains and repairs elevator systems. Takes necessary precautionary measures to ensure safety of employees. Assists in the development of Facility Standards for HVAC Systems. Assists in the development of standards for electrical and gas distribution systems. Coordinates and assists in the set-up of communications systems for special events. Maintains and updates a listing of mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors and vendors. Maintains an inventory of commonly-used HV AC and electrical parts.
