Graduate Assistant (Staff), Women's Resource Center

Job description

General Summary

The GA will provide general programming and administrative support for The Women’s Resource Center within the Department of Diversity and Community Involvement. The GA will focus on training and development, including the Department of Diversity and Community Involvement training the trainer programs. Other responsibilities include administrative support, event development and facilitation, managing student led programs, fundraising, assessing WRC Program standards, and other duties as assigned by WRC Program Coordinator and Director of Diversity and Community Involvement. This person will work under the supervision of the WRC Program Coordinator.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting DCI implementation of training and development initiatives

Conduct trainings on the topics of diversity, social justice, sexual violence prevention, and other topics as requested

Assist with the development of on-going WRC programs/projects (sexual violence prevention, leadership development initiatives, awareness month programming, etc.)


Work with Event Planning to coordinate logistics for events

Conduct benchmarking related to WRC initiatives

Fundraising for community partners

Assist with creating, disseminating, and analyzing program evaluations and assessments

Maintain process and outcome data for monthly and annual reports.

Maintain weekly office hours in accordance to your graduate assistantship requirements (20/wk)

Actively participate in staff/departmental activities, meetings or other activities.

Represent the office by attending various divisional programs, as needed.

Assist with the daily operations of the office when needed.

Maintain appropriate confidentiality in all forms of communication, complying with FERPA, university, and Diversity and Community Involvement guidelines.

Perform related Departmental and Center duties, as required.

Qualifications

Acceptance to an EMU graduate program related to the work of the Women’s Resource Center.


Basic knowledge of feminism, issues impacting minoritized women and femme identified people, gender equity, and/or sexual violence prevention efforts, and social justice education.


Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills.


Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively, and strong interpersonal and facilitation skills are required.


Strong oral and written communication.


Strong organizational skills and experience with event planning.


Experience using empirical research is preferred.


Experience developing programs and working with teams is preferred.
