Requires heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.

Monday – Friday; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; and will include some weekends and on-call.

The primary goal of this department is to provide the best possible care for the research animals within the University. This position completes primarily simple and routine animal caretaking duties; and as requested by Group Leader or Supervisor including cage washing activities which may occur up to 20% of the time of overall job duties and responsibilities. All actions are completed by strictly and consistently following applicable DLAR SOPs including safety procedures & guidelines. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOPs or non-routine situations immediately to Group Leader or their Supervisor. Arrives, leaves and takes breaks at work as scheduled. Strictly adheres to DLAR attendance policy.

Twelve months of FCI, cage wash, animal husbandry (laboratory animal husbandry preferred) or equivalent experience directly related to care, use, handling and treatment of animals in a paid position; AALAS certification at ALAT level. Driver’s license preferred.
