Physical Requirements:Requires heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
Shift:Monday – Friday; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; and will include some weekends and on-call.
Job Summary:The primary goal of this department is to provide the best possible care for the research animals within the University. This position completes primarily simple and routine animal caretaking duties; and as requested by Group Leader or Supervisor including cage washing activities which may occur up to 20% of the time of overall job duties and responsibilities. All actions are completed by strictly and consistently following applicable DLAR SOPs including safety procedures & guidelines. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOPs or non-routine situations immediately to Group Leader or their Supervisor. Arrives, leaves and takes breaks at work as scheduled. Strictly adheres to DLAR attendance policy.

Preferred Education/Experience:Twelve months of FCI, cage wash, animal husbandry (laboratory animal husbandry preferred) or equivalent experience directly related to care, use, handling and treatment of animals in a paid position; AALAS certification at ALAT level. Driver’s license preferred.
