ADN is required

Required Related Experience:

4 years related experience is required with 3 years in NICU or PICU setting

Required License/Registration/Certification:

Active Kentucky RN license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), or active compact state RN license that is in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider valid for at least 6 months after employment date. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification, ACLS certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification are required within the first 3 months of employment. Advancement to Gold Level in the Nursing Professional Advancement Program and attainment of advanced certification in Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Nurse.

Physical Requirements:

Must maintain weight at or below 215 pounds

Shift:

Must be able to work three 12-hour Day or Night Rotating shifts/week, will also be required to work some weekends and holidays. (Shifts are 7a-7p; 9a-9p and 7p-7a)

Job Summary:

Neonatal/pediatric transport is a complex, highly organized, dynamic process that requires highly skilled personnel with the ability to act independently away from the protected environment of KCH. Patient outcomes are optimized by stabilization and expedient disposition of patients to definitive care. This position also provides guidance, education and expertise to nursing staff in any pediatric area so better recognition and response to patient care issues, improved quality of care, and opportunity for development of critical thinking skills can be achieved. The outreach education provided by this position to referral facilities ensures a collegial relationship and enhances outcomes.
The Neonatal/Pediatric Emergency Transport Nurse is responsible for inter-facility transport of children from newborn to 18 years of age via ambulance, helicopter, and fixed wing aircraft.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing-BSN preferred. Three years experience as a registered nurse in a Neonatal and/or Pediatric Critical Care setting preferred. Previous transport experience is preferred but not required.
