Job Description Summary

The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.
The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

Due to the continued growth of our program, we are searching for a Procurement Coordinator.

As a Procurement Coordinator will act in the university's best interest, holding financial stewardship and customer service as the top priority. You will procure a wide variety of commodities and services, develop and review specifications, organize and conduct inventory, maintain good supplier relations, resolve discrepancies and prepare reports. You will responsible for coordinating and executing purchase orders, performing routine and complex processes using best practices and methods, and adhering to policies and procedures while ensuring that issues are quickly resolved and opportunities are identified and acted upon. Furthermore, you will provide timely and accurate procurement requests, develop and review specifications. Track and analyze various data, including but not limited to key performance metrics, inventory volatility, and projections. You will also be responsible for understanding client issues and concerns finding ways to satisfy those concerns while driving a high level of compliance to policies and contracts. Finally, you will participate in special projects and other duties assigned by the Director, Strategic Sourcing or Executive Director of Finance.


  • Associate's Degree in Business or Finance from an Accredited University with background in scientific sourcing.
  • -Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • -Critical thinking and effective problem solving skills.
  • -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • -Detail Oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • -Proficient in Microsoft Office.
