Job Description Summary

The Executive Director will report to and assist the Vice Dean of the MBA Program for Executives in the implementation of all strategic plans and operational priorities for the MBA Program for Executives (WEMBA) in San Francisco.

This position is located in San Francisco and reports to the Vice Dean of the MBA Program for Executives.

Job Description

The Executive Director will manage the key areas of the WEMBA San Francisco Program, including admissions, career services, and program operations. He/she is responsible for key relationships outside of Wharton, including catering and hotel, which are a linchpin of the program both operationally and financially. Ensuring compliance with governmental regulation, including the Bureau of Private Post-secondary Education (BPPE) and the Veterans Administration, lies with the Executive Director. The Executive Director must work closely with the Wharton San Francisco operations and IT staff, and should coordinate as appropriate with Executive Education and the MBA Program as the other two primary users of the Wharton San Francisco facility. A strong working relationship with the Philadelphia WEMBA program is essential in ensuring the quality of the MBA for Executives experience is of the same caliber across coasts. Developing solid working relationships with other offices at Wharton and Penn are also important for success as the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Strong organizational, communication, and relationship management skills are required. A strong understanding of the higher education, MBA and/or Executive MBA environment is helpful. Evening and weekend commitments and availability and some travel will be required. A bachelor’s degree is required, but a master’s degree in education, business or a related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of relevant work experience as well as experience managing staff. Experience working in higher education is preferable. He/she will also have a desire to work with professional adult learners and staff to create a collegial and superior learning environment.

This position is located in San Francisco and reports to the Vice Dean of the MBA Program for Executives.
