Grinnell College seeks an enthusiastic, strategic, and professional Volunteer Engagement Assistant of Alumni and Donor Relations. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, the Assistant is part of the team which provides strategic leadership for alumni and donor programs, events, volunteers, and communications which complement and support the mission of the College and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). Specifically, the Assistant is responsible for supporting the logistical execution of our alumni volunteer engagement platform, including the class letter program.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated; contribute creative ideas; have the ability to easily and effectively communicate with a broad range of audiences; and be passionate about the value of a liberal arts education and its potential for preparing students for service to the common good. They must also demonstrate flexibility as the needs for this position will rapidly evolve and change over time. Demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills with follow-up abilities are essential.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
•Oversee the processing of class newsletters in conjunction with the class agent volunteer program;
•Support the delivery of a comprehensive volunteer engagement platform through coordination of campus partners and external vendors to deliver exceptional in-person and virtual experiences for alumni volunteers;
•Administer the class notes program for The Grinnell Magazine;
•Manage the delivery of orientation and stewardship communications and materials for new and retiring volunteers.
•This position requires three years of experience in a service-oriented, confidential environment or an equivalent combination of higher education and experience.
•The ideal candidate will also demonstrate well-developed communication, planning and organizational skills, and a strategic, goal-oriented approach to work.
•Candidates must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
•A valid driver’s license is required.
