Professional Research Assistant

The Black and Sullivan Labs have an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant. This NIH-funded position reports directly to Drs. Black and Sullivan will work to develop a research project aligned with the overall goals of the team.

 

This NIH-funded position reports directly to Drs. Black and Sullivan will work to develop a research project aligned with the overall goals of the team. Responsibilities include designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the writing of grants and manuscripts. We employ an integrated approach including functional genomics, mechanistic studies, and animal research to make biological discoveries with translational potential. This position will support our current work focused on understanding how DNA rereplication is misregulated in cells with trisomy 21. This work has potential to provide new insights into the clinical impacts of trisomy 21 in people with Down syndrome, including predisposition to autoimmune conditions, Alzheimer’s Disease, and protection from solid malignancies.
 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at  $35,600.00 to $40,500.00

 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

 

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

•           Bachelors of Science Degree. or equivalent in a biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

•           Excellent communication skills 

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Note: This is an essential services position.  The incumbent is required to respond after hours during emergencies and report to work for regular assigned shifts during emergency campus closures.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•           Proven experience and familiarity with common molecular biology techniques.

•           Proven experience and familiarity with cell culture.

 

 

Competencies:

•           Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

•           Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
