Nature of Work

A PRA position is available for an individual interested in performing studies of to develop a GRINtrode (a GRIN lens with adjacent tetrodes) to record simultaneously electrical and optical measures of neural activity to study the role of CA1 and piriform cortex neurons in odor plume navigation in mice.  

Supervision Received

Daily interaction with the PI(s), students and the lab managers.

Supervision Exercised

Coordinate work with other departmental personnel as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

The PRA will be engaged in research projects within the laboratory involving surgical implantation of GRINtrodes and imaging neural activity in CA1 with two photon microscopy in the awake animal.

Salary and Benefits:

 

The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $37,080. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

 

The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in psychology, biology, anatomy or other scientific discipline appropriate to the job.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience with GRIN lens implantation surgery

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The PRA will perform surgical implantation of GRINtrodes, will perform imaging of neural activity with two photon microscopy and will use python and MATLAB for data analysis. Excellent record keeping ability, communication skills, and ability to work independently.
