Postdoctoral Research Associate of Physics (Experimental AMO)Position Summary:
The Experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Quantum Optics (AMO) group, in collaboration with Experimental Nuclear and Hadronic Physics group, in the Department of Physics at William & Mary invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate. The position is for two years, renewable each year based on performance and funding availability.
This primary responsibility for the postdoctoral associate is a novel charged particle detector based on coherent light-atom interactions. The candidate will also support the current research efforts of the AMO group focused on developing novel sensors and measurement techniques based on Quantum Information Sciences (QIS) approaches. Existing experiments use warm and ultra-cold atomic vapors and require expertise in spectroscopy, quantum simulations, lasers, quantum optics, vacuum and laser systems.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the starting date and have expertise in an area relevant to the group’s research program. These include hardware, data acquisition and analysis and simulation.Preferred Qualifications:
