The University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is currently seeking a Program Manager and non-tenure-track Lecturer for an innovative partnership between the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) and SCPS that includes UVA Edge, UVA Launchpad (summer program), and other potential future endeavors. The programs teach the human skills, best taught through the liberal arts, that students need to thrive in a digital world.

UVA Edge is a one-year, online program for the 36 million working adults who never finished a postsecondary degree. Students learn human and digital skills that are in-demand by employers and earn twenty undergraduate credits from UVA.

UVA Launchpad (summer program) is an intensive, eight-week summer program custom-built to prepare residential undergraduate students for the world of work by combining liberal arts coursework, technical “bootcamp” style training, and career-focused projects.

The Program Manager will support the collaboration between the two schools and ensure the programs have transformative student impact, robust enrollment, and financial health, while providing strong, values-driven leadership for faculty and staff. The Program Manager will also teach in the programs as a Lecturer (tenure-ineligible).

Job Duties:

·Responsible for leading thriving programs across three areas:

oStudent Impact: Manages overall design, delivery, and quality of academic programs, leading to strong student outcomes. Manages academic advising and other student success supports.

oEnrollment: Supports Student Services and Enrollment Management to meet enrollment targets and helps students successfully transition from admissions into programs.

oFinancial Health: Manages the program to ensure financial health.

·Provide strong, values-driven leadership for faculty and staff that inspires and leads to high performance.

·Coordinates with other departments on faculty hiring and evaluation, program approvals, program review and assessment, enrollment, and other related functions.

·Teaches three courses per year as a Lecturer in an academic discipline related to the program(s).

·Provide effective advising, instruction, classroom management, and a vibrant, challenging, and engaging academic experience for students in an online environment.

·Connects classroom learning to career advancement for students.

·Fosters productive academic and professional collaborations within SCPS, A&S, UVA, and partner organizations to advance the School’s programs.

·Participates in School and/or UVA committees, workgroups, and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

·Advanced degree in a relevant field is required.

·Four years of experience – Supporting and/or coordinating academic programs.

·Prior teaching experience at the college level, and must have demonstrated ability to teach online.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·Demonstrated success in ensuring effective and timely program implementation that meet school goals.

·Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, as well as colleagues, to drive successful outcomes.

·Ability to develop long-range goals and objectives while simultaneously managing a great deal of detail across multiple projects and tasks.

·Demonstrated fiscal management and budget planning skills.

·Strong written and oral communication skills.

·Awareness of, respect for, and adherence to University of Virginia and SCPS policies and procedures (e.g., accreditation requirements, SCPS internal requirements, University contractual requirements, etc.).

·Office 365

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·Ability to utilize data and market trends to modify, expand, and/or retire courses/programs based on student demand.

·Develops courses / programs that have a clear value proposition for students, which set the programs apart from competitive offerings.

·Canvas, Zoom, MS Teams / Slack

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, benefited position operating during regular business hours, but with the flexibility to adjust your schedule (especially during COVID). Although our staff is currently working from home, this position is envisioned as an in-office position, though other arrangements can be considered. Post-COVID, we will likely return to being primarily in our offices on UVA Grounds, with some flexibility to work some from home.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
