Position Summary

A postdoc position for fabrication, characterization, and modeling of battery materials is available in Prof. Nadimpalli's experimental solid mechanics group at Michigan State University. The position is available immediately for a period of one year and renewed for one more year based on the performance. The search will continue until a suitable candidate is found.

The research work involves mechanical and electrochemical characterization of energy storage materials, mainly lithium-ion battery materials, by fabricating novel electrode samples and developing nano/micro or continuum scale experimental techniques. The experimental work will be complemented by theoretical (computational) modeling of battery materials. There will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate with research groups from other Universities within US. Also, the postdoc student will have access to state-of-the art experimental facilities within MSU and other research labs nearby.

Minimum Requirements

Individuals with a PhD in engineering, materials science, or physics

Desired Qualifications

Individuals with a PhD in engineering, materials science, or physics with strong interest and experience in the following areas: nano and micro fabrication methods, materials synthesis, optical and other characterization methods, excellent writing skills, and some working knowledge of mechanical behavior of materials in coupled-physics problems. Those with prior experience in lithium-ion or other battery materials research are especially desired for this position.
