Position Summary

Responsibilities will include: conducting novel research in molecular diagnostics, genomics, plant pathology, and population genetics of various plant pathogens and/or diseases of small fruit and hops. The position will also involve assisting the principle investigator in the laboratory in conducting extension activities. Furthermore regular communication with collaborators will be required. Duties will also include coordinating with graduate students as needed and overseeing undergraduate students who will be working on these projects. Compiling, analyzing and summarizing results in preparation for writing reports, manuscripts and articles for publication and incorporating results into presentations is expected.

MSU has a vibrant plant science community comprising of more than 150 faculty members conducting a wide range of plant research spanning the lab-to-field continuum in both natural and agricultural ecosystems. PSM is a multi-disciplinary department with faculty appointed in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR; http://www.canr.msu.edu/).

Required Degree

Doctorate -Plant Pathology

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Plant Sciences, Microbiology or agriculture-related field. The Ph.D. must be completed at the time of employment.

Exceptional candidates from all areas of Plant Pathology, Plant Sciences, Microbiology or agriculture-related field will be considered.
