Position SummaryOversee all financial transactions for BAE to ensure accuracy and compliance regarding accounts and subaccounts; approve all financial transactions; prepare budgets for grant proposals; project and manage budget for the department; oversee and monitor post-award financial transactions and provide management data to faculty relative to their grants; oversee purchasing requisitions; oversee, process and approve financial statements, cost re-distributions, balances operating statements; approves reimbursement, disbursement vouchers and travel documents; oversee administration of startup funds; CashNet oversight, manages endowment and scholarships funds and oversees gift accounts. Manage, execute and coordinate Personal Services Contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (NDA/CDA) arrangements/agreements. Review and approve all new hires, appointments, reappointments for accounting accuracy; approves overload pay for faculty and prepares summer pay for faculty and academic staff. Assist Chair with faculty and staff raise process.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a accounting, finance, business, or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with: MSU accounting systems; skills in administering agency policies including federal agencies such as: USDA, NIH, DOE, DOD, NSF, State of Michigan, as well as private contractor and industrial contracts. A self-starter whose strengths include: creative thinking and problem solving, teamwork and the ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment. Advanced experience with Excel (spreadsheet software).
