Position Summary

Greets patients in order to determine needs; registers and directs patients to the correct appointment areas. Verifies insurance coverage and authorizations and collects payments from patients. Schedules appointments, maintains master schedule for physicians and provides information; receives and routes calls and relays messages.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in a clinical setting; ability to multi-task and cross cover positions; team player. Background with health insurance and authorization requirements. Orthopedic background desired but not a requirement.

Work Hours

Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but can vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.

Summary of Health Risks

Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator. compliance with Influenza policy. Covid precautions.
