Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will support Pharmacists in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients through receiving, billing and preparing prescriptions for pharmacist review; provide patient assistance at the point of sale, and perform other technical functions to support pharmacy operations.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training in a pharmacy technician program; six months to one year of progressively more responsible or more expansive work experience in a pharmacy setting, including computer and math skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires possession of a current State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, requiring 20 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain certification.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with QS1 software; work history in retail pharmacy setting; demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service; organization; written and verbal communication skills.

Work Hours

Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but can vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.

Summary of Health Risks

Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator. Covid precautions.
