Position Summary

This position will perform duties associated with Central Control, including Siemens and Delta Building Automation System (BAS) programming and diagnostics; review project plans and documents for adherence to University construction standards and project specification; provide support to Building Services Mechanical and Electrical crews, Preventive Maintenance crew, and Commissioning Department; provide training and technical support to skilled trades employees and supervisors.

This position will engage in High Performance, leading edge practices, which are Innovative in their approach to increased Stewardship and Service Excellence.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school in the field of engineering or HVAC technology; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Utility Infrastructure Systems, field survey operations specific to the work being performed, commercial drafting and ability to read blueprints; computer experience relating to the specific department; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid vehicle operator's license and must meet MSU standards for safe driving; this position requires basic personal computer terminology and operations knowledge, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.

Desired Qualifications

Associate’s degree in engineering or HVAC technology; experience with MSU Standards for Construction systems HVAC systems, Controls and Building Automation Systems, fire, safety, and health codes; experience with Siemens Apogee Building Automation System and/or Delta Controls Building Automation System. Experience in industrial or commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, including laboratory pressurization controls; experience in the operation of Building Automation Systems (BAS); experience in project planning and review.

Work Hours

NON-STANDARD VARIABLE WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday -Work hours for this position will alternate on a regular basis between 1st shift (8am to 5pm) and 2nd shift (4:30 pm to 1am)
