STEM Teach and Learn Facil Coordinator
Position SummaryThis position serves as the liaison with building occupants, university departments, support units and vendors to coordinate and facilitate the building operation and activities. Communicates with the building occupants to resolve problems, update procedures, coordinate classroom scheduling, maintenance and facility improvements. Provide communications, oversight and/or management of facility operations to be able to respond immediately to prevent interruption of scheduled instruction.
The new STEM Teaching and Learning Facility will house modular and flexible teaching laboratories and project space for introductory and gateway courses in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Materials Science, and Physics. The teaching laboratories will accommodate new advanced teaching pedagogies such as active learning, project-based instruction, and student research. The adjoining Power Plant has been renovated to provide four levels of student focused space including shared help and student studio space, a gallery/commons space with food service, program space for the Biological Sciences Program, the Undergraduate Research Office and the HUB for Innovation in Learning and Technology.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in facilities management, business management, engineering or a related field; three to five years in managing and administering scientific or teaching laboratories and buildings; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired QualificationsKnowledge of University policies and procedures; and experience in a higher education research environment including multi-disciplinary research and teaching facilities. Progressively more responsible or expansive work experience and ability to demonstrate solid knowledge of building operations and support; possess and demonstrate good communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with people at all levels of the institution; ability to quickly resolve problems of various degrees and natures; self-starter with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including sound judgement; a team player; intermediate proficiency in operational and project budgeting. Familiarity with health, safety, and security standards to ensure compliance with University, state, and federal rules and regulations, in coordination with relevant University units.
