Special Advisor to the Dean

Position Summary

Michigan State University College of Nursing invites applications for the position of Special Advisor to the Dean. This is an annual year, fixed-term faculty position with rank based on education and experience. The Special Advisor to the Dean position will provide leadership for developing and executing strategies for College-wide projects and initiatives. The incumbent will advise the Dean on matters of College-wide importance, development alternative strategies that are in alignment with the College's strategic plan and budget, and coordinate project development and implementation with the College of Nursing leadership team.

Doctorate -Nursing or related field

Minimum Requirements
  • Master of Science in Nursing or related field
  • If RN, unrestricted RN license without probationary status (or eligible)
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
  • DNP, or PhD in Nursing or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational processes, protocols and procedures
  • Excellent consulting, relationship building and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas, work independently, establish goals and priorities in the development of programs, plan and complete projects on time under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and collaborative partnerships with internal and external constituents
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and highly confidential information and skill in handling sensitive situations with discretion
