Essential Job Duties:

Supporting Teacher Team Leads and Counselors through management and preparation of materials for hands-on activities, escorting campers between rooms and buildings, assisting with daily camper drop-off and pick-up process, Friday camp closing events and camp facility upkeep. Position includes camp photography, maintaining an organized environment, and using knowledge about engineering to inspire campers.

Other Work/Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Coordinator of Engineering Summer Programs and undergraduate counselors.

Minimum Experience/Education:

University degree and NC Teachers License for Elementary, Middle or High School and a keen interest in learning about engineering and how it impacts all of humankind.

Department Required Skills:

Confident classroom practitioner with expertise in working with elementary, middle or high school aged students. Participate in planning and implementing week-long programs focused on introducing children to the fields of engineering. Ability to work as part of a team and contribute in the development and implementation of the program.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

Currently enrolled in a High School education program that incorporates STEM coursework. Has experience working with children in a group setting. Attended previous STEM camp, has lifeguard experience, First Aid and CPR Certification.

Qualifications and certification to teach in Public or Private Schools.

Required License or Certification:

Experience teaching with inquiry-based strategies and implementing hands-on, activity-based lessons in a virtual environment. Ability to relate and work with children in a relaxed manner while ensuring students are productive and make a positive contribution to their own learning and the learning of others.

$16.00 an hour
