Brief Statement of DutiesBrief Statement of Duties:

Assist the Northern Michigan University Chief of Police/Director-Safety in providing a safe environment for the members of U.P. Health System-Marquette. Enforce laws, regulations, ordinances, policies and provide safeguards for the hospital.

Minimum QualificationsRequired Education:

Associate's Degree

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:

Must meet minimum standards of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards in accordance with P.A. 203.
Must have attended and graduated from a regional police academy and be licensable upon hiring.
Valid motor vehicle operators license with a good driving record.

Required Minimum Work Experience:


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:

Knowledge of relevant public safety and security equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
