Research Consultant, Statistician, OIT  The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

The Office of Information Technology at The University of Tennessee Knoxville seeks qualified applicants for a position that focuses on customer support of both computing and statistical analysis. The position will be responsible for assisting researchers on their experimental design, data management, analysis, graphics and computing work including software installations; writing results sections for journal articles and client documentation on statistical computing; helping clients select computer software and hardware to solve their research problems; developing and teaching workshops in research computing; and taking an active role mentoring students and colleagues.



Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Statistics or a related field, with 3 years of related experience is required; a Ph. D. and 5 years of experience is preferred. Years in graduate school may qualify as experience.
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision as a member of a team is required.
  • Expertise in at least two of: R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python required; expertise in more than two desired.
Desired Qualifications:

  • PStat® accreditation desired.
  • Experience with hierarchical linear models, generalized linear models, analysis of variance, confirmatory/exploratory factor analysis, and power analysis is desired.
  • Previous experience working in a research computing or statistical consulting environment is desired.
  • Ability to research, learn, and support new software packages and statistical methods is desired.
  • Experience with Amos or Mplus desired.
  • Experience in structural equation models, mediator/moderator designs, and mixed model ANOVA is preferred.
  • Experience with data science or machine learning is preferred.
  • A track record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals is preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
