Job Summary:The Part-Time Career Center Advisor will assist the Career Center Coordinator with providing career services, resources, and programming to facilitate and support the career development and employment of prospective, current, and former DMACC students.
Essential Functions:Advise students and graduates on career exploration and planning, occupational and job market information, internship and job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and other career or professional development topics. Assist with career planning and employment-related programming and events, including workshops, classroom and student organization presentations, and on-campus recruiting events; administration of DMACC’s online job and internship databases; data collection, entry, and analysis for DMACC’s annual Graduate Outcomes Report; development of other office publications; Career Center marketing and outreach efforts to promote services, resources, events, and career opportunities to various audiences.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices. Experience and commitment to working with diverse populations. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver classroom presentations. Knowledge of current software applications.
Desired Qualifications:Master’s degree in educational administration, student personnel, counseling, psychology, social work or related field. Knowledge of career services functions, such as career planning and assessments, job and internship search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and employer relationship development. Postsecondary education at a community college. Work or volunteer experience as an advisor, counselor, coach, teacher, mentor, advocate or related role within an educational institution or community service organization.
Work Schedule:Variable daytime hours with possible occasional night and weekend.
