Assistant Director, Public Interest & Government Careers - Georgetown University Law Center

Reporting to the Director, Office of Public Interest & Government Careers, the Assistant Director and duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Advises students on public interest and government careers.
  • Conducts one-on-one counseling.
  • Reviews resumes and other application materials.
  • Conducts career-related programming.
  • Participates in recruitment programs, employer outreach, and alumni networking activities.
  • Serves as a 1L Section Advisor and assumes other responsibilities as determined by the needs of the office - e.g., specialist advising and related programming to the Public Interest Fellows, 2Ls, and 3Ls.
  • Interacts on a daily basis with other OPICS career advisors, recruitment staff, pro bono coordinator, and office manager, as well as with OCS career advisors, the Experiential Learning office, ODOS, Office of Academic Affairs, Financial Aid and the Registrar's office.

  • Juris Doctor
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate public interest/government lawyering and/or law school career advising

  • Prior work with students, especially law students
  • Knowledge of non-profit and/or government legal hiring practices
  • Counseling background
