The Research Specialist will independently conduct experiments on the neural, behavioral, and physiological basis of energy balance control (food intake, energy expenditure and weight control) using a rodent model.
Job Description
A Research Specialist is needed in the University of Pennsylvania Department of Psychology. The Research Specialist will conduct experiments on the neural and physiological basis of energy balance control (food intake, energy expenditure and weight control). Duties include behavioral, physiological and molecular analysis and testing; data organization and analysis (using spreadsheets, graphs and statistical packages); coordinating activities of undergraduate assistants; ordering lab supplies and maintaining compliance with regulatory laboratory bodies; and participating in scientific discussions about experimental design and interpretation of results.
This position is contingent upon funding.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; coursework in Biology/ Psychology and laboratory experience preferred but not required; prior work with rodents preferred not required; ability to work independently with attention to details required; good communication skills. This position requires flexibility in scheduling.
