Primary Function

As a Human Resources Project Manager you will undertake a diverse and integral role within the HR team. You will manage department wide and cross functional projects as well as support the running of the HR operations area. Reporting to the HR Operations Director, and working closely with the HR Partner team, the role will blend both knowledge of HR process and best practice with a clear understanding of the project management discipline.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Responsibilities:

HR Projects (80%)

  • Devise and own the HR Project plan and ensure key milestones are identified and communicated to key stakeholders.

  • Create and manage a regular project reporting mechanism for the HR team and relevant college leaders.

  • Schedule and lead planning meetings, including or communicating with key partners, gaining decisions, etc.

  • Work with the HR Partners and project team to ensure the delivery of key project milestones on time and within budget, resource and policy.

  • Build relationships and form alliances with counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders to scan for innovations and opportunities to form partnerships.

  • Develop dashboards, decks or other appropriate methods to communicate project progress to senior leadership.

  • Support the HR director of operations with managing the Workday HCM enhancement/fixes priorities as well as help manage existing Workday projects.

Office (20%)

  • Manage and triage all communications that come though HR@Smith.edu and manage all communication tools for the HR Department (Salesforce, YAMM, Workday announcements, etc.). Establish a ticketing system to automate response and improve customer service.

  • In charge of maximizing office space, storage, and layout. Manage all office equipment and facilities concerns.

  • Optimize user experience of HR Website by managing updates and coordinating with College Relations on the continuous improvement of website user experience.

  • Liaison with Workday training team to maintain self service Workday HR process documentation.

  • Supervise student employees as applicable.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent, plus three to five years experience in project management with an acute understanding of the project management discipline and best practice.

  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Practical understanding and experience of key HR processes and practices

  • Experience in interpreting concepts and clearly presenting back in Powerpoint or report format

  • Knowledgeable in relevant office software most notably GSuite and Workday.

  • Data savvy and able to analyze, interpret and report back key themes and make recommendations.

  • Ready and able to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made.

  • Communicates challenges and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively. .

  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups.

  • Able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts, explore and evaluate them systematically.
