Job Summary:Transformative Learning (TL) provides academic preparation programming and academic support services for undergraduate students in all colleges to assist them in mastering the skills needed to become successful lifelong learners. TL houses four academic support programs including: The Peer Tutoring Program at The Study, Academic Preparation and Placement (APP), Academic Coaching, and Supplemental Instruction (SI). Members of TL strive to achieve the goal of enhancing the academic experience of students at UK by working closely with campus partners to develop student-responsive programs that best serve the entire campus community.
As a member of the TL senior staff team, teaching and graduate assistants will contribute to the overall mission of the unit and its services, participate in regular meetings/trainings, and continually work to improve all programs and services.
The goal of academic coaching is to provide supplemental support that focuses on learning strategies, life management skills, and enhancing student success at the University of Kentucky. We accomplish this support through the form of direct instruction and one-on-one consultations with students. Teaching Assistants working within the Academic Coaching program will be responsible for working closely with the Assistant Director of Academic Coaching and a team of Academic Coaches.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a desire to work closely with undergraduate students, hold a rich understanding of student development, and have familiarity with best practices in student success.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, meeting one-on-one with students, creating and presenting workshops, assisting with assessment, working on marketing plans, attending weekly meetings, and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: Demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm in working with undergraduate students; excellent oral, written and visual communication skills; individuals who work well in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive team-based environment; self-motivated and responsible to work autonomously; comfortable speaking in front of large groups; excellent public speaking skills; willing to learn; innovative; creative; professional.
PREFERRED: Familiarity with all Microsoft Office programs; experience with design, marketing, statistical analysis, curriculum design, teaching experience, or formative or summative assessment a plus.

Preferred Education/Experience:Pursuing doctoral or master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
