Position Summary:This position is the accounting professional responsible for supporting business processes of the UGA Center for Continuing Education and Hotel. Duties include entering payment requests into OneSource, act as delegate for travel expense reports, management of accounts receivable including invoicing, payments, collections, and aging, preparation and entering of journal entries and other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the UGA GC Business and Finance Department. This position assists in the daily operation of the financial unit to guarantee fiscal resources are appropriately utilized and that payments are processed timely with the correct coding and chart string and proper backup to confirm they are allowable expenses. This position ensures documents are accurate and in compliance with policies and procedures, as well as internal controls. This position maintains departmental accounting files and records and provides back-up for other appropriate unit staff, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:• Two- or Four-year degree in Accounting, or equivalent.
• Experience in accounting process including payables, receivables, journal entries and general ledger analysis and reconciliation.
• Experience with UGA People Soft programs including financials, budgets and One USG Connect, and UGA Mart.
• Possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and understand the various related business processes of the University of Georgia. The senior accountant will be able to apply that knowledge and understanding to assigned duties accurately, effectively, and efficiently.
